I saw snow for the first time! I wish I could have gotten a picture of me in it, but it was too light for that =(

Thanks to Nick and Ian for organising, and to everyone else for a really cool weekend - we should totally make it annual.

In other news, I am busy-busy-busy researching murder mysteries with an aim to write my own.

Watch this space.

Mix CDs

Thu Jul 24, 2008, 2:13 AM
Well, lately I've been getting really into mix CDs, simply because "where words fail, music speaks" (anon.). I've made a fair few, including 2 very important ones. As most of you who actually read my journal know, I lost both my parents in a car accident, in December 2006, and so I made a CD for each of them, of songs they used to sing, because really, they were my greatest influences for my musical taste.

Dad:
1. All Shook Up - Elvis Presley
2. Love Me Do - The Beatles
3. Little Miss Can't Be Wrong - Spin Doctors
4. Some Girls - Racey
5. A Girl Like You - Edwyn Collins
6. I Got You (I Feel Good) - James Brown
7. What's New Pussycat - Tom Jones
8. I Heard It Through The Grapevine - Marvin Gaye
9. Don't Dream It's Over - Crowded House
10. A Little Ray Of Sunshine - Axiom
11. Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life) - Green Day
12. I Will Follow You Into The Dark - Death Cab For Cutie
13. You're Beautiful - James Blunt
14. What's My Scene - Hoodoo Gurus
15. Cigarettes Will Kill You - Ben Lee
16. Walking On The Sun - Smash Mouth
17. Simply Irresistable - Robert Palmer
18. My Girl - The Temptations
19. My Happiness - Powderfinger
20. Bittersweet Symphony - The Verve

Mum:
1. Faith - George Michael
2. American Pie - Don McLean
3. Jesse's Girl - Rick Springfield
4. Video Killed The Radio Star - Buggles
5. Respect - Aretha Franklin
6. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun - Cyndi Lauper
7. Manic Monday - The Bangles
8. Dancin' With Myself - Billy Idol
9. Sweet Dreams - The Eurythmics
10. Fame - Irene Cara
11. Gloria - Laura Branigan
12. Centrefold - J. Geils Band
13. Tainted Love - Soft Cell
14. Like Wow Wipeout - Hoodoo Gurus
15. Never Gonna Give You Up - Rick Astley
16. Wake Me Up Before You Go Go - Wham!
17. Get It Together - Seal
18. Dancing In The Moonlight - Toploader
19. Teenage Dirtbag - Wheatus
20. Long Time Gone - Dixie Chicks

I also made them about a lot of other people, but I can't post them here, because a lot of it is my personal feelings about them (and sometimes it's not so favourable!).

Please Consider

whilst aeronavigating myspace i was transiently seized by your enigmatic expression and the quality of your autobiographical details…this automatically directed me towards a certain inquisitiveness about your self…one that perceptibly desires to remain on one level mysterious and inscrutable to the gaze of the other while at the some time drawing one closer to an invitation to make contact even at the prospect of you remaining silent and rejecting this invitation… i was captivated by this idea even if this means a total dismissal of my request for an exchange of ideas…is there any possibility for a cybernetic dialogue on themes that embrace certain aspects of your enigmatic persona but simultaneously moves us incrementally towards novel intellectual terrain…a terrain that will no doubt embrace the inspiration that all that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream.. take this kiss upon the brow…and in parting from you now…thus much let me avow…you are not wrong who deem…that my days have been a dream…yet if hope has flown away…in a night or in a day…in a vision or in none…is it therefore the less gone…all that we see or seem…is but a dream within a dream.. strong judgments are made all the time based on limited information... when we judge someone and then adopt an attitude toward them that shuts down other possibilities and locks us away from the insight of our hearts…is there a possibility to act on this adage by setting it into practice…i know you will reject this eletter but the temptation to correspond is greater then the refusal…

I was tagged...

Fri May 16, 2008, 2:15 AM
...so here goes.

1. Post these rules
2. Each person tagged must post 10 random (hopefully interesting) facts about themselves
3. Tags should write a journal entry of these facts
4. At the end of the post 8 more deviants are tagged and named
5. Go to their page and leave a comment telling them they're tagged

1. I was born on December 2 (I'm a Sagittarius).

2. I'm afraid of heights.

3. My dA name is after a song by Taxiride which goes thus:
"Don't be afraid to be
Feeling so bad, you see
It won't be that long
'til you get back home
Dream what you wanna be
Feel it so easily
Don't be afraid to fly, just let go
With the sunlight in your eyes"

4. I still miss my beagle, Pooky, even though he's been gone for more than 10 years.

5. When I'm angry at someone, or break up with them, I write a letter to them, saying exactly what's on my mind, and I never show them.

6. I have these spells, every few months, where all I do is cry and be miserable for three days straight.

7. Whenever I'm feeling unhappy, I buy myself a little trinket from my favourite antique shop (such as a piece of jewellery or a pretty teacup), or a piece of clothing from my favourite vintage store.

8. I believe 8 is a lucky number, and the Chinese agree with me!

9. I’m a little obsessed with cupcakes.

10. I’m a quarter Chinese.
