Mix CDs

Thu Jul 24, 2008, 3:13 AM
Well, lately I've been getting really into mix CDs, simply because "where words fail, music speaks" (anon.). I've made a fair few, including 2 very important ones. As most of you who actually read my journal know, I lost both my parents in a car accident, in December 2006, and so I made a CD for each of them, of songs they used to sing, because really, they were my greatest influences for my musical taste.

Dad:
1. All Shook Up - Elvis Presley
2. Love Me Do - The Beatles
3. Little Miss Can't Be Wrong - Spin Doctors
4. Some Girls - Racey
5. A Girl Like You - Edwyn Collins
6. I Got You (I Feel Good) - James Brown
7. What's New Pussycat - Tom Jones
8. I Heard It Through The Grapevine - Marvin Gaye
9. Don't Dream It's Over - Crowded House
10. A Little Ray Of Sunshine - Axiom
11. Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life) - Green Day
12. I Will Follow You Into The Dark - Death Cab For Cutie
13. You're Beautiful - James Blunt
14. What's My Scene - Hoodoo Gurus
15. Cigarettes Will Kill You - Ben Lee
16. Walking On The Sun - Smash Mouth
17. Simply Irresistable - Robert Palmer
18. My Girl - The Temptations
19. My Happiness - Powderfinger
20. Bittersweet Symphony - The Verve

Mum:
1. Faith - George Michael
2. American Pie - Don McLean
3. Jesse's Girl - Rick Springfield
4. Video Killed The Radio Star - Buggles
5. Respect - Aretha Franklin
6. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun - Cyndi Lauper
7. Manic Monday - The Bangles
8. Dancin' With Myself - Billy Idol
9. Sweet Dreams - The Eurythmics
10. Fame - Irene Cara
11. Gloria - Laura Branigan
12. Centrefold - J. Geils Band
13. Tainted Love - Soft Cell
14. Like Wow Wipeout - Hoodoo Gurus
15. Never Gonna Give You Up - Rick Astley
16. Wake Me Up Before You Go Go - Wham!
17. Get It Together - Seal
18. Dancing In The Moonlight - Toploader
19. Teenage Dirtbag - Wheatus
20. Long Time Gone - Dixie Chicks

I also made them about a lot of other people, but I can't post them here, because a lot of it is my personal feelings about them (and sometimes it's not so favourable!).

J.D.: But in the end, the most important thing to accept is that no matter how alone you feel, how painful it may be, with the help of those around you, you'll get through this too.
